Quick question does anyone know which Z model this sump came from, not used to seeing the sensors on the filter arrangement.

Not sure which model they added the oil level sensor to but that is the deeper sump.

From what I've heard the oil level sensor was unreliable

The oil level sensor was added 1981, it connects to a relay which is located behind the seat in the rear of the bike.
The relay is of the type which sets itself if the level is too low and keeps the oil light burning even if the motor is running and oil pressure is OK. Therefore the functionality is often left out, the easiest way to do it is leaving the cable disconnected from the pan.
The sensor and the cabling inside the pan should be left as they are, maybe the possible new owner in the future wants to use the system.

Cheers Zed_thirteen have figured it out now, It's off an A3 1981, the first to be fitted with the Deep Sump, along with the electrical oil level warning system. My next thought is do I have a longer spill pick up lying around, to allow me to fit this deeper sump on the project I am doing, anyone know the length differences between the short and long one

The pick up translates into English as "oil filter case".

Oil filter case for shallow sump: 32009-1006 = 65mm from base to end of tube

Oil filter case for deep sump: 32099-1017 = 90mm from base to end of tube

Cheers ALL for the answers, won't be using the sensor, this sump will if anything be fitted to an A1 going forward. The loom on the A1 as far as I can see on drawing doesn't allow for it.
May still keep it with the A3 motor I have for re-sale in the near future.
