Hello all. Just wanted to introduce myself. I've been messing with KZs since I got my first 650 in the summer of 1994. It was my Dad's bike when I was a little kid, a 1978 KZ650SR. That led me down the path to owning many 650's, a full dressed KZ1100, a 1975 Z1-B, a 1977 KZ1000A and now a 1980 KZ1300A. My friend bought one new in 1979. I fell in love with that bike the first time I saw and heard it when I was a kid and I've wanted it ever since! He was a mechanic at Vista Kawasaki in the 70's and through the early 90's. He put about 120,000 miles on it before the cam chain went bad. When his went down, he bought a 1980 from another friend, which is the bike that I now have. Work out a good deal to trade a nice 1983 GS1100L that I got for a song.

Now I'm in the process of resurrecting the beast that I drooled over for a very long time!

Thanks for having me. I look forward to hanging around.

Welcome aboard Mellvis and good luck with the project. When bad luck strikes, we're here to help.

We love pictures, especially of the "before and after's" so lets see what you're working on.

One of my pet peeves is new members not including some basic info in their profiles. We get lots of questions posted by members from all over the world asking for help and we respond, but it helps us if we know if that member is in Europe or Australia or the North America's.

Welcome to the best KZ/Z1300 site forum. Just ask and always a member on hand to help and the FAQ is a minefield of info and worth checking out.
As always plenty of photos would be good re your project, and all the best with it.

Mellvis,
If you're a hands-on guy and like tinkering with your bike as much, or more, than riding, you landed on the right forum. As old as our sixes are, they do require lots of attention, so there's lots of chatter about that. I'm on another forum that focuses on riding, and banter sometimes stops for days, and even weeks, before reading anything. I prefer about 10% riding and about 90% tinkering with my bike, so this forum feels like home to me. And, there's a gold-mine of info here as well as many experts available. And, as Aerial0 said, the FAQ section is some really good reading with lots of good info.
Also, like has been said, we LOVE lots of pics. If you're not much into writing, then let each pic you submit fill in 1000 words for you! There's even a gallery section for you to post all of your pics.
Welcome to the family!
