With the head-angle, steering head rotation from full right to left, radiator and no room on the frame for a typical clamp (any clamp) ........as I said; It was a challenge.

ebay - "330mm Steering Damper Motorcycle Linear Stabilizer Reversed Safety Control"

Not a mm of stroke to spare but allows the steering head to hit the factory "stops". For the "non-metric" that's something between a "tidge" and a "tad".

A logical adaptation of the VW part.

Have put some miles (Kilometers for us canucks) on the steering dampener. Don't notice it when hand-maneuvering or riding. Although I am not willing to push the bike to an extreme, where it should be effective I have noticed on several notorious sections of hwy that are badly "crowned" and uneven due to frost-heaving that there is much less tendency for the front-wheel to rapidly attempt to "hunt" tracking over these areas. Hope that makes sense.
