Learned a hard lesson just now.
Had ordered about 900 USD of parts from Zed.com (England to USA)

Got tagged with ~130 USD 'duty tax'.

According to DHL rep, orders > 800 USD get hit with automatic duty tax.

Lesson learned. Keep those orders less than $800, even if you have to place multiple orders.

The extra $130 hurts.

If it's any consolation, I had to pay about 20% tax for the parts I bought in the UK.

Those English had the balls to leave the European community, they called it BREXIT.

Didnt work out great for us English Z13 owners either we now have to pay import tax if we use the German shop

Zed-Parts.com actually replied to my email, Wow!

Debbie said they do have info on the homepage, which I saw.. 

But I've never, after multiple orders, had to pay the tax. (Then I went over 800 USD).

I asked Zed to maybe perhaps could/would they add something to effect of "Check your import tax laws. It's possible you can reduce tax liability by modifying your order(s)".

Most likely nothing will change, but it was a nice email from Debbie.

I work as a purchaser in an international business. Since every country has it own rules it is very hard to predict implications of the order (its value) as well as the origin of the parts on duties and taxes.
Since the rules are changing regulary the seller, even is professional, will usually not be able to advise properly. He might even not understand impications for you, the importer. Not that many people in the business undertand how things work. 
If anyone reading this considers bringing in material from abroad in larger quantities/ values (more than USD 100) I recommend to check implications in advance with your customs office in advance.
