1979 KZ 1300 Full Dress with Trailer $2000. Port Huron Michigan
This 94,000 mile bike comes with matching Time Out cargo trailer. 1979 was the first year of the 1300s. This year only came as a standard motorcycle. The grand touring package became available in 1980 or 1981.
The fairing, trunk, and bags are Kawasaki Grand Touring aftermarket. The driver floor boards are Markland aftermarket. There is a letter from them certifying that they are the original prototypes.
The coil pack has been upgraded to the Chevy 6 pack. Documentation included.
The trailer hitch system was re-designed and is new. It is a quick disconnect that comes completely off the bike. It is well hidden when installed.
The bike was always garage kept. I am the second owner, but have only ridden a few thousand miles.
It has been re-painted factory color. The diamond tread and Freightliner emblems were added at that time.
This bike has not been ridden for about 8 years The master brake cylinder is badly corroded, along with the right side switch package. The fuel in the tank is bad, some rust exists. The carbs will definitely need attention. The usual things to bring a parked machine out of storage will be needed. The tires have lots of tread, but are probably 12 years old. Rear tire has a slow leak, so it has sat flat. The biike is not running. The engine, and overall motorcycle ran excellent when it was last ridden.
I originally purchased this bike with coil problems. I followed GM fix.
I had it repainted stock color. Diamond treat accents were custom made. Freightliner badges front and back.
I did not get into the restoration of the faring pockets etc. The tops are open. I do have the old covers and radio etc.
Accessories list;
Kawasaki Grand Touring fairing and lowers
KZ 1300 lower engine guard
K&N air filter
Toe/Heel shifter
GM ignition coil upgrade
Kawasaki (Vetter) Grand Touring saddle bags
Kawasaki (Vetter) Grand Touring trunk
Kawasaki luggage rack (trunk mount)
Markland Universal light bar (around saddle bags)
Stewart Warner full instrumentation (oil pres, amp, volts, clock)
Diamond Big Man High miler custom seat
Kawasaki Sub Alternator kit

All of the aftermarket items have full documentation, installation info etc. Clean tiitle

I also have some misc. KZ 1300 parts from other projects over the years. Shocks come to mind. Everything I have that is KZ 1300 goes with it.

askiing $2,000 Pick up Port Huron, Michigan.

Not a fan of the "diamond plate" But to each is own.BTW this is not a "Grand Touring it's a "Gran Touring" model from 1979 with a Calafia fairing produced by Calafia industries in California USA.It was available with a touring package in 79 but in 80 Kawasaki started making there own Battle Star Galactica inspired fairing and luggage.$2k for it?I think you'll get more if you part it out.

Thank you. The members here are a wealth of knowledge.
this unit came from factory naked. I have photos of the bike on day one in the documentation.
I appreciate your comment about parting it out. Perhaps some KZ lover will want it whole.
If not, then I'll start the part out process perhaps in January.
I piicked the diamond tread trim because it worked well withh the flat surfaces and hard lines on the tank and other areas. Yup, no accounting for taste.
