Even when new the ZN Voyagers had a slight issue with high engine temps in the summer months in stop-n-go traffic or when idling too long. A month after I bought my '83 Voyager I pulled the radiator off and wrapped my exhaust pipes with header heat wrap tape. With just a single overlap pattern, like on a bicycle's handlebars, it greatly reduces the amount of heat buildup in that area right behind the radiator before the fan kicks on. All of that heat that would have come off the pipes in that area are now forced to keep going down the pipes until it gets past the tape. I stopped my tape just before it became visible below the radiator. I used stainless hose clamps at the top, bottom and middle of the tape to hold it in place solidly. After the tape treatment my bike would only get heated enough for the fan to kick on with my sidecar and trailer attached in slow traffic. Idling never did overheat it after that.
