When I purchased my '81 a couple of months ago, the seller included a new cam chain tensioner.  It looks like the same ZX11 tensioner that is shown in the Cam tensioner Upgrade thread.
It fits just fine but I notice that there is a small bump cast into one side of the tensioner body which makes me think that it is there to indicate a specific orientation during installation. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find anything so far (I searched here as well and didn't notice anything) that tells me if the orientation matters or not on a KZ1300. I did find a reference in a ZX11 manual that stated "Install the tensioner body [A] with the arrow on it pointing upwards." and I assume the "arrow" is the bump in the tensioner body I'm referring to.

So, does anyone here know how it should be oriented when installed on a KZ1300?

I haven’t installed a ZX11 tensioner to a 1300, so I am unable to answer with confidence.  Looking at a ZX11 parts diagram, the bump on the tensioner body appears to correspond with an approximate 9 o’clock position. I don’t know what the reasoning is. Is the body concentric with the plunger?   Hopefully, somebody who has made this change to their KZ1300 will comment.

Great to read about the plans you have for restoring your bikes. Looking forward to following your progress, and seeing some photos.

Thanks scotch. I have read through all of the cam chain tensioner posts here, including the one you linked. I haven't noticed anything in the posts here that mentions the proper orientation.... but maybe I missed one?
Anyway, the tensioner in your link is the one I have. The picture only shows the "smooth" site. On the opposite side, it has the little bump I'm asking about. If you do an image search on the web, you can see it on some of the pictures out there.
