That's not how the system works. As exhaust gasses pass under the ports in the head, fresh air (from the air-box and through the reed valves in the cam cover) is drawn into the exhaust stream to help burn off excess hydrocarbons. Reed valves are there to ensure exhaust does not back-feed into the airbox.

.......................And it still does not add any increase in performance or make the bike run better !
It was only fitted to please certain countries emission laws..............not the UK or Europe.
Just bin it and save yourself the bother.
