Sorry all for the improper link but power is intermittent at my place today, we've got a foot of snow with 3" of ice.
The link above will take you to a recent starter clutch R&R on my A-4. It was chattering and not engaging the crank. Also while apart, I noticed the fried stator. I ordered a replacement stator and have it all back together.
My first time ordering a CALTRIC Stator. It was only $45.00 so I will see if it works. The harness wires were 2" short (You get what you pay for) but it was any easy fix to solder some additional length on to the leads.
Unfortunately I had to remove the LH exhaust to gain access to the harness, and while apart, will sandblast the collector and repaint. That will force me to do the RH side, can't have one side painted, and the other side in rust.
