To answer a polite P.M. question/concern - thanks for that ! And for the record - I have no problem answering questions in the Forum, about anything I've posted:
Yes, the WIX spin-on oil filter IS smaller then the stock oil-filter cartridge. Filter mediums have improved over 38 years and WIX is noted as one of the better quality filters.
The WIX application chart shows: Principle Application: Ford Probe (89-97), Mazda (83-96), Kia Sportage (95-02), Polaris ATVs. This filter is also the same physical size as the oil filter on a '80 3.1liter V8 Turbo Trans AM that I once owned. That filter was sandwiched between the exhaust manifold and the engine block !
Yes - the upper cross-brace on the center-stand must either be removed or partially "relieved" to fit around the filter. This is solely dependant on the retracted position of the individuals center-stand. Conversely, the center-stand "Stop" could be adjusted to keep it slightly lower, thus no mods to the C.-stand would be needed.
The "Adapter" stays on the bike (permanently for the purposes of this question). The filter simply spins on or off as with any similar type.
