Valvetrain geometry and spring harmonics is a fascinating topic for me. If I could go back to school and study this, I would. One could write a thesis on this topic and much like computer technology, the material would be obselete in less than a year. Spring wire diameter and even the shape of the wire will effect the harmonics of the spring. Another interesting aspect is in the study of beehive springs instead of double opposite wound springs to diminish the harmonics in the springs at different ocillation frequencies.
I know, big words for a big topic.
Race engine building- Fascinating. Build 'em. Blow them up. Figure out why they blew up and build another one. O' to be rich and have a complete engine building machine shop to play in.
Thanks Scotch for getting me "all wound up" Looking forward to seeing where you take this topic.
