Just want a second opinion and some input of those who have rebuild these 6's or been in the sump.

Do you think it is possible to un-stick the float for the oil level sensor without taking the sump off.

Maybe poking it through the sump drain or oil filter housing. From the OEM parts breakdowns looks unreachable but worth asking , next question what about some love taps on the sump?

Now I think it is a stuck float because it worked when I bought the bike and stopped working after 8 hours bouncing around in a trailer, hence my train of thought.

Figured its worth asking hear for any good ideas before taking off the sump, and I have check the connection it is a permanently infinity Ohms, with or without oil.

Cheers, Lewis

Forgive this newbie question but does the Z1300 (or in my case ZN1300) have only an Oil Level Sensor and no oil pressure sensor (or lamp to indicate zero oil pressure)? The only thing I see on my bike is the Oil Level warning lamp.

Lewis- I'd be pulling the sump off and cleaning the oil level sensor. Good opportunity to have a look at what's beeen happening inside the engine. If the plan is to unstuck the sensor for now and tear down and clean later, I'll be the Devil's advocate here and sugest anything that will stick the float in the system should be removed before continuing the running of the engine.

Bucko- See page 318-320 of the service manual for a complete explanation of the Oil Warning system. It's a litle complex to go into in writing this thread. Thr manual tells all.

If your taking the sump plate of it would be a good time to check the oil pump filter gauze, I did mine recently it amazed me how much crap had collected over the years , I don't think it had ever been cleaned out since new,
