Ive been working on my 1981 kz1300. Been tearing it apart. It was my dads. Apparently it had coolant leak. Never overheated. Just leak. So drained coolant and oil, didnt see oil in coolant and didnt see coolant in oil. but i seen this in reserve tank. What you guys think?

Hard to tell. the pic shows up on the screen about 1" wide and 1-1/2" tall. Did the fluid come out homogenized like that? or did you stir it up?

Is it still together enough so you can pressure test the coolant system?

yeah i pull the reserve tank out and it was homogenized like that. Drained it into the plastic bottle, shook it up and it mix together. I then let it set for 5 to 10 mins and it was homogenized again.

Reminds me a bit of the groth that diesel fuel used to get in the pre low sulphur days.

Stupid me thought I was looking at a blender with a green bottom and brown fluid in it. What are the chances that it's algae on the bottom and rust/water on top?. That would be my next stupid guess. Either way your in for a flush and I still think you should try to do a pressure test to figure out the problem.

Dumb question, but what's Dad got to say about it?

All my dad remembers it was leaking coolant little bit. He stop driving it because he couldn't afford the insurance on it anymore. Never overheated or anything. My brother said it was leaking in front of engine. Under the radiator. He said engine needs rebuild. But I don't thing it needs it. I think it was leaking from behind radiator by water pump. Pour oil in spark plug holes and let it sit for few days. Piston rings move, shot oil all over garage. Lol. tearing part because frame got rust and handle bars, exhaust etc..... Want get frame repainted.
