Guys,I gave up on the seized original fitment Fuel Tap on my A1 and today attempted to fit a replacement Pingel unit: the recommended A1702C adaptor, and Tap 6211C - both look well manufactured.

Adaptor fitted spot on, but the upper part of the tap filter element will not fit through the hole in my tank  and appears that the existing cut out in my tank will need shaving by a couple of mm to accommodate the tap/filter. I'll get around to this when its Winter and I do a few minor planned tweaks to my bike.

Not sure why this is ?? My bike is fitted with the standard large tank ?? I assumed the large tank was identical throughout the production run.

Any clues - Cheers Tim

Hmmm .. same sort of problem I had with that K&N air filter going into the airbox hole, perhaps the company will say that the tank has "either shrunk or warped" over the years :-), sorry couldn't resist, contact Pingel and let them know, always handy to tell someone that what they make doesn't work, cheers

If I remember correctly you do need to drill/file a rounded hole for the pingel to fit through.

I think I masked the hole, put the adapter on, and then marked the area that needed to be removed.

It's not a direct bolt on - it does need some modification

Zed Thirteen is correct, I have recently fitted one. Marked out the tank with the adaptor plate in place and then used a round file inverted into the tank so most of the metal filings ended up outside. I then blew it out with compressed air. All good!
