Yeah, you know how to get me excited. I've worked in 2 shops like this. Cleanliness is next to godliness. In one shop the assembly room was only entered when wearing Tyvec disposable suits. The assembly tooling NEVER left that area for any reason period. Anything that needed rework, was removed to the machine shop, worked on then cleaned before returning to the assembly room. If you wern't as clean as a surgeon and entered the room, you could kiss your job goodbye.
Rottler make incredible machinery. Their cylinder head machine could cut 12 seats in about 4 minutes after initial set up and all the seats would be cut to within .001" in depth to each other.
(Makes me want to go back to work !!)
As far as the move went- Went OK. Wished I didn't have to do it but it was in the cards just 7 years down the road. We had an opportunity to cash in on our 5 year old house with that 1300 sq. ft. attached garage. I'm now in a 20 year old bungalow an hour closer to doctors, specialists, family, friends etc. We now have natural gas for heat instead of propane so heating costs are down from $300 a month to $90 a month. Gas for the vehicles has dropped by about $500 a month.
The only downside is that I'm sort of at the beginning of a total gut job of the house. Removed 400 sq ft of hardwood and 1400 sq ft of carpet, installed 1800 sq ft of hardwood. Removed the kitchen including bulkheads. rebuilt the ceiling, relocated 4 pot lights, relocated electrical receptacles, replaced the hot water tank, furnace and ac unit . I've almost finished installing the new kitchen (just have the back splash to install)
A spare bedroom will be converted to a walk in closet. The 3 piece bathroom will become a 2 piece bathroom and the shower stall that was in the 3 piece will be closed off and added to the ensuite bathroom. The original walk in closet which was 5 ft X 5 ft will become the ensuite shower.
All the baseboard and casings will be changed out for more modern ( I've already ripped most of the old stuff out) 9 interior doors are gone. New Livingston doors are being delivered next week
All this work less the furnace and AC is being done by myself (Yippee !@$@#!$#@!)
So to shorten up the writing here, that's about 1/2 of what's to do before I look at how to make a 2 car garage work with a work shop in the basement (which doesn't have external access) Needless to say the KZ is having a rest from me. As I keep saying - Life just seems to keep getting in the way or maybe better put, my priorities are driven by outside influences beyond my control.
