In the last days, one of my best friends passed away, Hurley Wilvert, Kawasaki and Yamaha racer, mechanic extraordinaire, and just plain great pal. He had been put into an induced coma after he hitting a car that pulled out in front of his street motorcycle. He was severely injured, and never came out of the coma.

We have been the best of friends and colleagues for 2/3rds of my life, 46 plus years. We had raced all over the world, and when some of the most notable riders from other countries came here, they stayed with either Hurley or myself, and worked in our shop on their bikes, traveled with us. Notably, Greg Hansford, Warren Willing, and a lot more Australians, New Zealander's, any racer and crew were welcome to stay and work with us.

Hurley, ask God to hold the flag, wait for me until my time comes....what a great grid that will be for the road race of all time, in the clouds.

Sorry for your loss and my condolences as well.
One would think the greater risk is racing on the track but time and time again, it's granny in the jalopy who takes out riders on the street. In this day and age, with cellphones and snacking to distract drivers I almost pray for A.I. to take over driving for the majority of the people on the road. It's getting to be no fun going out for a nice ride. 4 times in the past 6 years I had to leave the road to save my ass from some idiot texting while driving. I almost think a 150 db horn is not loud enough..
Be safe everyone.

As we get older, more and more common to lose friends. I hope time heals your wound.
