Saw my first Z900RS yesterday at the UK Bike Show / Motorcycle Live: it was shown side by side with a 1972 Z1: the old Z1 just looked much prettier and worked as complete design. I so much wanted to like the new Z900RS as I would have liked a modern Z900, but in the flesh, whilst it is as good as most other modern retros, I think it looks a bit out of proportion. KHI have fitted the new bodywork around an the existing models frame and engine, and close up you can really tell (tank and seat seems to sit way to high on the frame), and they've also lost 30 BHP from the engine.
I really hope they sell millions of them, as it might convince KHI to build a new Z1300
Gerald, re the 4 into 1 - I dont think it look as as good as the original and iconic 4 into 4: I think Kawsaki had a unique selling point and the KHI "bean counters" have won a design argument.
