I had the opportunity to put my 1300 on a dyno today. It was both good and bad at the same time. Good to finally see what this 37 year old motor actually puts out. Bad because it was less than I hoped for.
I was expecting 100-105HP at the rear wheel.
The actually numbers were 92.1 HP with 130 ft/lbs of torque.
He stuck the probe in the tailpipe and the bike is burning VERY rich. As if the black cloud wasn't my clue
As the RPMs climbed it got richer. At 7000 rpm it pretty much ran out of enough air to fire properly and began breaking down. My tachometer is off by about 1000 rpm as well. When it reads 8000 its actually 7000.
The good news is he thinks I can easily pick up another 10 or more HP by getting the carbs set up right. He was very enthralled with the bike and wants to set it up for me. He's offered me a really good flat rate to take them apart, clean them again, and tune it on the dyno so I am going to take him up on the offer.
