I've found pushing/turning a 1/4" nylon bolt into the valve-body a better method to remove it. A drop of light oil to lube the O-ring and a rocking back and forth motion while gently pulling removes easily without damage.
Trying to remove using pliers marks the soft brass and will damage the spring-clip groove. Too much squeeze-force can deform the body and using needle-nose pliers with a jaw inside the body will simply ruin it.
The same method in reverse installs it.
