Just to be clear about this photo, the solenoid valve came from the factory with the switch mounted to the air box. (Not mounted to the engine.)

Had a mixed day trying to get this sorted today.
Tried all the ideas and gave up.
I am now looking to get a small elbow fitting to try and get the angle correct at the carb end.
I figure the early post is the go, straight out of the tank, along the gap, hard u turn back to carbs into a right hand fitting to the inlet.
Also found the delightful trait of carb overflowing when tap is on and bike is on the side stand.
What a totally terrible design all round eh!!!

yes, leaving the fuel tap on with the bike on the side stand is a problem.

I know a few owners who get into the habit of turning the fuel tap off just before they arrive somewhere to drain the hose and lower the level in the float bowls

Totally agree with you ZED.

Shutting off the tap a few hundred feet from the parking spot, at the end of the day does wonders in keeping fuel off of the ground and out of the crankcase.

Also using the center stand is a good preventative measure at keeping the bowls level.

In the mid 90's, I know of an entire Kawasaki/ Harley dealership that burned down to the ground due to a leaking fuel tap off of a KZ1000P. The dealership was a total loss with all of their inventory.

Well thanks for all the tips.
I went and bought another meter of new black rubber fuel line. Nice and soft too.
Ran straight out of the tap and across all carbs then into this neat little elbow filter and then under the carbs and up to the T fitting.
Gunna make up a small clamp to hold the filter to the motor but I am really happy with the result.
Gee this was a poor design.
