SO, it appears that at least some CBX-1000 sixes have a throttle with an upward-exit cable arrangement that is compatible with the 1300.  It's no surprise that parts for a rare bike like the CBX are expensive, but I find it highly unlikely that there aren't thousands of other Hondas that use the exact same right side switchgear/throttle cable arrangement as the CBX.  It would seem that there is some kind of catalog or other reference that would list this.  What do you think?

Can't speak to the CBX but CB750F/700F/1100F (similar vintage to CBX) were available with upper exit cables switch cluster.  They were standard on euro models but North Americans had to order the called, 'Sports Kits' which included the upper exit throttle cable cluster (along with a bunch of other goodies).  The Euro version of the switch cluster is still available new from Honda for about $100US (and it a very good upgrade for the above Hondas as it's plug-n-play and includes a fully functioning lights switch).
