Hi. While cleaning my carbs on my A5 project bike i have noticed there are no washers on the diaphram shaft ?
Is this needed on a 1983 bike ?. All three are not there on any carb

These washers, which are difficult to find, should be in place as they eliminate metal to metal contact. Also and more importantly, without them the diaphragm carrier with be lower resulting in a leaner mixture.

Beertad, Don't have an OEM but do have a duplicate I made as a pattern, spec'd from a "real one" !
Give or take a couple .000"s + or - , this will work:
The OEM's are a type of fiber composite - Can't think of the name at this moment.

Thickness: .022" / .570 mm.
I./S. dia. : .518" / 13.16 mm
O./S dia. : .669" / 16.81 mm

Let us know how you make out with this !

I can send you replacements. They are derlin and exact measurements. Derlin is the right modern material for this kind of applications. The outside diameter I cut by hand, and I make it accurate. The outside diameter does not need precision anyway - thickness and inside diameter are important. 0nce I find someone to machine the whole batch to the 17 mm outside they will be all exactly the same. But like I said, it doesn't really matter, but for sure better than using scissors every time!
I can send 3 + 1 spare for $2 plus postage (envelope). PM me if you want them.

Cheers scotch. Will do.
One other thing while i am on carbs. Is it right the manual setting for idle mixture screw is wrong and they should be 4 full turns out . Seems a lot to me?
