regarding the K&N filter.

I'd get things sorted out a bit better before using one or the fuel stand-off is going to wash the filter-oil out of it and likely make a horrible mess, to clean-up. The oil is "sticky-sticky-sticky" !

Aside from that It's good to hear that some progress seems to be ..................progressing!:)

Yes, I made an extension and made a portable AFR sensor able to enter the exhaust from the back. Connected all the wires, connected to the battery - shows nothing, doesn't come on!
I hope I didn't screw anything up, as I was being careful and connected the right wires. It's an expensive gauge....

I didn't do the direct on bike install, like you did Daro, as I was watching money at the time, and also don't have access to a welding machine. And then all the pipes were chrome plated, painted, and installed. I didn't want to go through all the trouble again, as it's a bit complicated in my case - I don't have a garage or a car to take things around, had to remove the bike from the living room soon and after the move the bike is in an open garage with construction going on. 0ne day I will get to doing it.

I used Colortune for checking the spark.

The K&N filter has a cleaning medium inside and a wire mesh on the outside. It' is very popular, and pretty much all performance guys use them. You spray it with cleaner, rinse, let dry naturally, and spray supplied oil - that's all! Takes no time.

With stock 42.5 idle pilots 17 to 18 (14.7 or so being 1 lambda). Idle air screws made little difference. 50 idle pilots went to 20. I have 35s on the way. I would expect to see 13.5-14.5 as what I would consider as good as it gets for a carb.

This is with 1370 kit, fresh valve job, DG header, no air filter.

Hi Frank, before moving any further personally I would verify correct function of the measuring device. If you start the bike, warm up and note the AFR value, than apply choke and see if the AFR drops significantly. Alternatively you could partially block or better to say restrict the carburetor air inlet to the carb itself or to the jets metering the air. Those two small round holes on the carb air intake side, and observe if AFR drops. With the hand covering inlet I would expect 11-12 AFR .
