Another option in lieu of the silicone and 1/8" brass tube is:
An irrigation drip-line plug. Drill out to 1/8", "warm" it with a heat gun/hair dryer and press in. About 1/2 way in, apply a drop of Thread Lock, then press in completely.
Warming the plug will help the "barb" compress into the hole. Once fully inserted the 1/8" drill can be run in once more to ensure the hole diameter is a full 1/8".
Note: The "barb" isn't well defined on this example because it has been installed and compressed.

Just throwing it out there. What are the chances of drilling and tapping for a main jet now that you've proven the theory that a reduction in that port is a viable option?

Timely, you should ask kb ! While discovering the "irrigation plug" works for the mod. I revisited that idea from some time back. Just haven't stumbled across something off the shelf, that will work. Also: It's a mod. that most couldn't/wouldn't undertake due to the need to Tap the port; not to mention fab. a threaded restrictor if an alternative part isn't available.

The advantages to the silicone and brass mod. are: No tools required, no threading required, no skill required, reversible and only a couple of $$$.

...and I'm back ! My "light-bulb" moment proved to be enlightening!
Well Kb, Turns out a MIG tip is exactly the correct diameter to tap a M6 1.0p thread in the choke air port.
Used a .035 and it drilled true for the 1/8" required.


So there's three viable options.

Well done !! This mod I'll be doing with the mig tips. I like the idea that you can screw it out for cleaning and if you need to change the size, remove the jet and redrill or replace the jet with a smaller one. Once the carb is drilled and tapped, no more physical work to the carb. Don't need to be getting any more metal filings around the carbs. And it looks like a finished well thought out mod.
