As you know when cleaning the carbs there are 6 jets two for each carb under the plug in the carbs. I just got me a set of wire drill bits that go from 80 to 61 for the every small holes in carbs and metering blocks. The wire bit that fits the small jets in our carbs is a no.77. If you can get these jets out of that hole a 77 bit will clean them. Now the advange to having a set of bits like this is , now that i have two sets of these jets I can drill them out a bit bigger and see what it does for the bike and keep one set stock.

If I remember right, those are your idle jets, couldn't get mine out during carby re-build as the threads for the plugs made it impossible to get them past, just cleaned them and left them in, cheers

No benefit in putting larger jets in their place mate, because you can adjust the flow by the mixture screws anyway.

I would leave em in & just bathe carb bodies in diesel for a week or so then blow them out with a 100 psi line.

This has worked for every 1300 I have owned & worked on (over 25 bikes)

Has anybody tried ultrasonic cleaning for carburettors? You can buy small ultrasonic cleaners quite cheaply now, but I wonder how effective they are in cleaning jets and passages in the carbs.

Ultrasonic cleaning works well, this is one of the methods I use on my carbs. The best ultrasonic cleaners are the industrial ones, starting at the $300.00 to $400.00 dollar range and up.

The cheap Harbor Freight units can work, but with very small amounts of weight in the tank.

The other item to solve is what to use when cleaning the parts. Some use Simple Green, others use their own brew. Be careful not to use chemicals that will react (corrode) with aluminum.

Make sure the carb parts get a thorough rise with water, and 100psi air with a rubber tipped nozzle.
