TOPIC:

I needed a new carb kit as some of the brass screws were hacked up pretty badly. I can identify all parts except the o-ring I have circled in the picture below. One other thing that was a bit puzzling was that the starter plungers are different as the new one has no pin at the bottom. I know I can use the original one but I am just curious. Any hints on this and the o-ring?

isn't that for the float bowel drain bolt (at least on a 1979 model - mine anyway)

Confirmed, carb bowl drain screw. The other 2 are the air bleed screw O-rings.

ahhh yes of course! My carbs are different as they don't have the bolt on the bottom. It has a screw on the side. I better not tell my wife I have a screw on the side though . This means this kit doesn't have a screw and corresponding o-ring for my

carbs.

If that's a pic of your carbs then YES, the "screw on the side" does have an oring. It only stops the screw from leaking out the threads when you have the drain open, otherwise, the oring is not needed when the drain is closed.

Yaegunp on a slightly different note regarding the 79 1300's years ago I drilled a hole in the ride side crank end cover inline with the timing mark on the crankcase because trying to time my bike was so lousy, using my variable timing timing light I was able to set the light to the advance I wanted and then when the light lined up with the mark on the case I tighten the timing adjuster
