Hi guys
I have had trouble starting my bike at the moment it seems to be running very rich which usually results in it starting on 4 cylinders because a couple of the plugs get fouled once I dry out the plugs it runs on all six but yesterday I struggled to get it going so I pulled out the air filter and found fuel pooled in the bottom of the air filter housing any ideas where it could come from and could it be connected to the running rich issue, bike was running fine previously

Sounds to me like you have a float stuck or sunk (saturated with fuel) and the fuel is pissing back up and out of the main jet into the carb, then into the air box. Be careful here because it could just as easily have flowed into the intake and down the cylinder. If that happens you could get a hydraulic lock and bend a connecting rod.

I think that if the float has lost its buoyancy and is absorbing fuel (like a sponge so to speak) no amount of riding will stop it from riding low in the float bowl and bypassing fuel. if it is a float you will to test the buoyancy of all your floats either by side by side comparisons in a container of gas ( to note one floats noticeably lower then the others) or sometimes you can get an indication by pressing a fingernail into an edge of a float and see if it leaves an indentation or wetness.

I agree with Kawboy. Drop your float bowls and check the floats. Had the same problem on other bikes and just by shaking them your able to determine if leaking or place in petrol and look for the bubbles. Take all plugs out and turn over as the last thing you need is a a lock up :ohmy:

Gotta agree with doing all you can to avoid hydrolock.
