My KZ1300 project thread (photo heavy)

There's a long road ahead of me to be sure. Oh well; I've been wanting to build a KZ1300 for several years now.

Well done, Brandonsmash, it looks like you are making good progress. I'm jealous, because this is what I want to do to my KZ, but don't have a workshop to do it in.
What make of big bore kit are you going for?

I'm grateful for my workshop. I have outfitted it with a decent collection of tools; recently, though, I've been running up against the limits of my power supply. To that end I have procured the parts necessary to run a 100 amp service to my shop; when it's a bit cooler I'll go buy the wire and get it done. That way I'll have two separate 240V/30A breakers so I can isolate my plasma cutter/stick welder and my air compressor. I'll also have a couple 20A single-pole breakers for my MIG welder and a few 15A breakers for other tools as necessary.

I have a 1370cc big bore kit en route. That should be minor enough to not require resleeving; I should just be able to punch out the (rather thick) cylinder liner walls a bit and fit the pistons.

Today I took off the rear of the bike. The suspension was easy enough but the swingarm was tough. Those pivot bolts were really, really in there and 10+ years of sitting stationary didn't help things. I had to get a little creative, but eventually they came free. I'll post some more photos when my phone decides to cooperate.

Good luck with the rebuild it looks like you have your work cut out for you, but is going to be so worth while. And when it does go back on the road it will give you many thousands of hasle free riding.
One of my friends had a cx500t many years ago loved it till a white van decide he did not like it.

Looking good so far. Can't wait to see the finished product.
