I'm about 7 hours into media blasting the frame. Good grief, that's a time-consuming task!

I'm trying to do this project so that the only labor I have to farm out is the cylinder overbore. It's part cost-saving and part pride-of-ownership, but everything from the sandblasting to the painting to the engine overhaul will be done by Yours Truly.

The frame is the biggest pain in the butt, given its surface area and complexity. The other parts that need to be media-blasted are less difficult: Fork legs, swingarm, etc. Those should go quicker by far.

From personal pride in doing it yourself, i can understand that.
my frame only cost me £250 to blast and paint, i thought that was good. left me more time to concentrate on polishing stainless bolts and casings.

I applaude you, Brandonsmash ; do as much of the work with your own hands as you can. That way, you know it is done how you want it to be done, and, as you say, there is the pride element. Also, the sense of achievement when you stand back to admire the finished article, and recall the blood, sweat and tears that went into it!
Good luck, and keep the progress reports coming.

I finished the main media blasting today and now the frame is mostly prepped for priming (there are a couple nooks I'll have to touch up with a wire brush).

I'll still be blasting the swingarm and other pieces, though those should go considerably faster. This frame was very tedious, but it being my first blasting project, I learned rather a lot.
