Ok, finally some progress again.

I client of mine (who is furloughed and obviously has little else to do) has made me the sleeve needed to fit the steering pin to the bottom yoke. This is a precision piece of engineering. The pin will press-fit into the sleeve and then get welded on the inside for extra strength. Then the pin/sleeve combo will press into the bottom yoke, but as there is a lip on the sleeve, a press fit is not required (but I have tested and it is a TIGHT fit!).

The pin is in the freezer and the sleeve will go into a vice and then be heated up. Then I'll see whether the two will.... 'mate'.

If not, I'll take it to the mill and stick it into the press.

So nice to work on the bike again! ;)

Hurray! The Corona shack has been built!

Now the internal equipment migration can start and then the bike can come home to be worked on.:cheer:

Right, the bike is in the shack! Yey!:cheer:

I have also managed to attach the front end and insert the engine. The sleeve works perfectly, but as the pin was welded in a little lower than original, I had to insert an extra shim at the top before tightening the steering pin bolt.

Note to self (and others dropping an engine in) Make sure you put the rubber cover in first as putting it in this way is NOT good:

This is how it should have been done:

End result!:

But oh my goodness what happened to these bolts?? They are so coming out and getting replaced by ones that don't rust!!

Tomorrow I'll be attaching more nice things!
