Pants on fire!

Bless me fellow bikers for I have sinned.
I lied to my biker brethren on an open forum and I lied to myself. I bought a bike to use during the Scottish winter; the salt they use on the roads here makes your bike look like you have bathed it in acid. After a fair bit of work I have finally got it running as it should. I’ve put a good few miles on it now and as expected the salty roads are starting to have a detrimental effect on the chrome and aluminium bits.
And this is where I proved to be a big fat liar. I promised myself, and also stated publicly that I wasn’t going to get too precious with this machine, but when I was cleaning it today I just couldn’t help myself. So out came the touch up paint for some of the rusty bits, out came the polish. After over three hours it’s looking pretty good. I can’t take a bike like that out onto Scotland’s salty roads; it’s looking far too shiny for that! So what do I do now? There’s no way I can wait till the spring before I can ride a bike again.

Next time buy a Harley and drive it in the salt.[/quote]
I used to have a Harley, but I saw a Kawasaki for sale and lo, it spake unto to me. It sayeth. “Walk into the light McZed, walk towards the light” and I did, and behold I saw the error of my ways. I now put performance before noise and chrome. No longer do I seek to wear leather chaps, jackets with fringes and waistcoats of many badges. Sold the Harley, and I now dwell upon the land of good and righteous bikers, God willing I will sin no more.

Well, what you wrote so far tells a lot about yourself - and I can't blame you for anything. You are on the righteous way !
