My Z1300

Good Afternoon Team
I joined some time ago and have been enjoying reading what people are doing to their Z's. A recent post about identfying a model number saw me dig out my purchae documentation from several years ago to work out what model I had. Turns out that based on VIN the wee beastie is an A5. ALso re-read the sellers notes and seems she has had a fair bit of engine work done (which explains the terrible silver paint and overspray) and also some paint work (the gold pin striping and indian head is awful). The bike needs new tyres and is pretty tired cosmetically. It came with a king and queen seat plus a rusty original that had been recovered cheaply. Also there was a 6-1 exhaust. The orange tranzac exhaust on the bike was a recent addition by the seller - why well I am not sure but anyway I have assembled an original system that needs chroming and will be done soon. The seat has been recovered and looks schmiko. I have removed the windscreen binnacle thing and hung it in the garage. So now it's waiting for me to finish another bike in the clean up queue then it will be it's turn. It will be a strip and clean rather than a full resto - more like an "engine in frame"clean up. Although I'll probably paint it black as I like that colour combo.

The rack has gone as well.
So far on the list I need to replace:
- Headlight holder as it's cracked and has a chunk missing
- grips
- front and rear master cylinders
- brakes and probably do the brake lines too
- side covers - saving for that
- will install a manual fan switch
- The crash bars will come off
- the idiot ligt panel is broke and will be replaced
- give the carbs a strip and clean even though it runs fine
- clean up the "been in storage too long" mank
Can anyone tell me if this is an original colour? If so what colour should the striping be?
Many thanks
PK

Hi Ya Pkay, I don't think the colour is original or at least I dont recall a colour like that.
What part of Queensland do you hail from.
I have the same exhaust cans on mine but they are labled Formula 1, sounds nice but the six into 1 sounds the best

Hi Pkay, nice to see another one being given a new lease of life.
Re A5 colours, here in the UK (probably same for Aus) the Z13 was offered in two colours, luminous passion red or ebony (same colour but different decals to the previousd years A4 model).
Be good to see some pics as you tidy her up.
Cheers Tim
