If I start the bike after it sits for a while on the side stand the oil light will stay on. But if I shut it off and restart it the light goes out like it should. I just changed the oil and filter and level is correct. Could this be an electrical issue?

Does your model have the unreliable oil level switch? Not sure how it works but it also illuminated the low oil pressure red idiot light.

I've had this problem so just fitted a 80psi pressure gauge with hose to the pressure switch outlet. Well within workshop manual tolerances. So it's a faulty pressure switch.

My oil pressure switch wasn't working so I changed it out for a car one.

I know this is pretty much the opposite of what is happening with you, but they are cheap enough to replace in case it's also your problem.

I will be checking into the car pressure switch if cleaning it with carb cleaner doesn't do the trick. Many thanks for the heads up.
