Bike wont steer when braking

Lately I've noticed my bike is very hard to steer when im using the front brake. I added some air to the front tire and that helped some but it's still very noticeable. Any ideas?

Looking for the obvious stuff:
Steering head bearings are smooth. No clacking from the steering head if you stab the front brake while walking along side of the bike.
How old's the tire? Is it worn unevenly? If the tire's more than five or six years probably good to ditch it for new rubber any way.
You added some air. How much are you running now?

The last time this happened, the problem wasn't anywhere near as bad as it is now. I put air in the front tire and the problem went away. From about 32 pounds of air to about 35-40 pounds of air. But this time the problem persists. The steering bearing seems fine, no noise at all, It's impossible to steer the bike when I use the front brake. Not a good feeling. I bought the tires about a year ago.

Check your front wheel bearing for excess play and make sure you havn't dumped your fork oil in one of the forks

I lowered my bike 2" in the front and rear last year and the bike steered fine for months. Checking my fork oil..

no cracks in the frame?, does it pull one way when applying the brake ?, are both brake callipers working ?, are one set of pads worn more than the other ? front axel tight on both sides at the bottom of the forks ?, bearings ?
