1979 mirrors
9 years 6 months ago
I have a set of mirrors which I believe to come of my 79 z1300, they are the square or I should say rectangular plastic ones.
The question I am asking is it possible to replace the glass in them or is it a no go, the ones I have are both cracked but I can see no way of actually replacing it, maybe it can be done and if so I would appreciate your knowledge on my problem.

A good glass company should be able to help you out. The only trick here is removing the plastic lip that appears to hold in the glass. I had this done to a mirror from an old CBX. Had to go to 3 different glass companies to find the right one who could remove the lip and replace the mirrored glass properly. The other two companies just wanted to silicone a new piece of glass over the broken glass which would have looked like garbage.
Bottom line- cost me $20.00 plus my time and gas

Thanks again Kawaboy, I kind of figured that lip should come off but it looks to be just one moulded bit of plastic but I will try a couple of glass joints and see what they can come up with
