anyone been into racing their kz1300?what clutch?stock or custom?

I used to street race mine when my fiends would want to see how fast it would go against their cars (no competition). 79 and the early 80's it was a fast bike then in the mid 80's to mid 90's it was all about the sound again my friends used to say it sounded like a Ferrari with my modded DG exhaust.

Stocktoy, you and I could really play hell on the streets. I always liked to show people the drain plug on my engine through their rear view mirror.
I guess in keeping with the spirit of posts on the Forum, I should respond to the "post".
There's nothing about the design of the 1300 that was ever meant for "racing" We've got a 400 lb. plus engine producing 120HP which has a long stroke and 2 valves per cylinder sitting in a tubular frame with a trailing swing arm, standard telescopic shocks with no antidive, no ABS brakes, tire sizes that look proper on a 650cc 4 cylinder but not a 700 lb. bike.
It's a very fine touring machine. Nice and heavy to iron out the bumps and potholes with a power band that start from just about idle and doesn't quit. No need to down shift to "get on it" and the size of a two wheeled Mack truck so you will be seen. Throw a 6 into 1 pipe on it and you will be heard. Throw a pretty paint job on it and you will be noticed. Bring it back from the dead and keep it that way and you will be proud.
Nothing puts a bigger smile on my face than rolling into our favorite coffee shops and having a rider come over to check out your ride and telling them it's a 35 year old bike that purrs like a kitten, roars like a Lion and runs like a cheetah. And if they need a tree stump pulled you'll go get the rope.

What a description. I remember seeing my buddy pull a jet ski with his 1300. I would give big money to have a picture because I know it's hard to believe.

Thats funny pulling it wouldn't be the problem stopping it with the standard brakes might be a mission though.
