Can't lift to Center Stand anymore.. was created by dcarver220b
Something changed. Used to be able to heft the old gurl onto center stand.. But after tire change, no way, the angle is much too steep and few handholds are available.
So I added a 3/4" chunk of wood to the lift. That made it possible, but not easy. The feller who rebuilt the engine told me he actually used a an overhead crane to lift the rear, then manually deploy the center stand. I don't have a crane..
Could it be the new tire is incorrect size or is this a known KZ1300 1979 A1 issues? I should add the Progressive rear shocks are at 40 psig out 70 psig max. And yes, could lift to CS with Progressives installed, they have been on the KZ for years.
Close up of the magic board..
Any ideas, oh smart KZ1300 peeps?
Thanks In Advance, dCarver

If you have 40 psi in the rear then the only other thing that comes to mind- How much air do you have in the front?

Any changes to the front fork ?
Just to add to it: I do have the A1-fork in my Zed which is, according to what experts said, the longest. Due to that it is quite en effort to lift the bike onto the stand. The moment the pressure in the back-tire drops it gets increasingly more difficult up to the point where I can not lift it anymore. That sis the moment when the tire is nearly empty.
So you either had some changes at your fork, or the size/ diameter of the new tire is different.
Hope that helps.

Why Have Four When You Can Have Six ?

It can also be the amount of Air Pressure in your front forks.
Its common to see many Z1300 / KZ1300's with very little chrome fork stantion showing when the bike is sitting on both wheels (off the stand).
Correct Air Pressure in both front forks can "lift" the bike up a couple of inches which it needs and also looks so much better and vastly improves the handling.
I need to top up the air in my own Z1300 A1 forks at least every 3 months or so.

The "other thing" I should have added to this post yesterday is that you must have modified the center stand to accommodate the DG exhaust because the stock center stand will not work with the DG exhaust so what exactly did you do when you modified it? Did your mod lower the mount of the center stand causing your problem?
