Say what? I had a '82 CB750F that pretty much weighed the same as the 900, and it was child's play--just step down on the (long, large) lever on the side of the center stand and pull up on the rear grip as if you were trying to separate the two. It was virtually impossible until somebody demonstrated it for me. Then I could do it anywhere, anytime.

Maybe we need the same centre stand that Alan has on his bike

Yes, and the Voyager, with it's 2 stage centre stand, is easier.
