Rear Master Cylinder

1984 ZG1300A. Rear brake master cylinder is beyond rebuilding - too corroded. Can anyone recommend a suitable replacement cylinder that I can mount inrplace of the original, even if some modification is required? I rarely use the rear brakes, and even then very lightly, so do not need to apply anywhere near the original pressure to the rear caliper cylinders.

Thanks Martin.
I wondered about the rear brake light - did you add a pressure switch in the line, or did you find a cylinder with a switch built in.
Also, how did you go with the mounting holes. Did you have to make a bracket to mount it ?
A pic of the back of the assembly would be good if you had one.

Just in case, you can press a new sleeve in. I had it done on the front master cylinder with a stainless sleeve. Works great and lasts forever. Cost was about $100.

Hi Harry,

I was going to fit a pressure switch but the MOT tester didn’t pick it up on the test. Apparently it was only mandatory to have the brake light operated from the rear brake after a certain year. I made some brackets from flat bar to fit the master cylinder to the existing fixings. Sorry no pictures I’m afraid.
