The 'mm' you are saying is not what I am familiar with. Not that I am not familiar with metric system. Here, in North America, I am going by tire sizes as they are offered for sale. There is nowhere I see anything like the width measurement offered from what I see. You go by standard tire sizes. On top of that, different brand tires will have slightly different absolute width under weight. They don't state these. So, in a way, it's a matter of experimentation vs. experience. I don't know what else I can say about this..

I'm in the USA and tires are sized in metric. For example the kz1300 uses a rear tire size of 130/90/17= 130 mm width 90mm side wall and 17 inch diameter.
I guess I'll be the Guinea pig and test it out. But you gave some good info and if any one else has done this please tell me to your experience and issues you have had with this.

If you choose to sure, please report! What else can I help...
The tire size calculator. It shows how changing sizes will affect speed readings, etc. It's a very cool tool. Even if taken for entertainment.

Last thing if I can ask - please report, with photos even better, where this route took you! Cheers mate!

The German shop does wheel widening. Nothing there about swing-arm problems.

"How It's Made - Alloy Wheels" ( )
3:00 minutes - It's the heat treating process(s) to deal with the material stresses that I was referring to. Just concerned about the possible new stresses induced by the re-welding. I know this has been done by many but the point has been raised. Not the type of work I'd give to just any random shop.
cheers

Custom wheels are made to accommodate different tire sizes not available for stock rims. Just like what I have on the other bike - a custom wheel and it let's me use a wider and a radial tire. But you can only go so far with these. There is no way to have a let's say a 200 tire with no matter what the custom wheel is without modifying the swing arm. There is just not enough space.
