The type and length of fork is irrelevant. We're discussing the Tachometer-cable, not the Speedometer cable. The only movement experienced by the tach.-cable should be that imposed by the turning of the handle-bars.

@ scotch: lesson learned, I really was of the impression it is the speedometer, as the German expression for it is Tachometer. Fully agree on the fork-length ...

You aren't the first to be caught by that. many years ago BMW put out a service bulliten about the Tachometer on the K series bikes and got heaps of flack because the dealers were trying to make sense of the instructions on mods to the tacho which didn't fit the real tacho very well at all

Being Canadian, I actually understand your comment, but if I wasn't Canadian and looked up dumb in the dictionary it would tell me that you're unable to talk probably because of a congenital disease as a child.
