Wanted, a proper Z13 bikini fairing
10 years 3 months ago
Hi all, I have a bikini fairing on the 13, in fact I have a spare one also (not in great condition), but they are for the GPZ1000 I believe, i'm pretty sure the "proper" one for the 13 is just a little different if I remember right, the cut out around the blinker stems was at an angle at the top and I think the top of the windscreen had a "kick up" instead of being straight, Just wondering if anyone could set me straight with what the right one is, what it looks like exactly, and if anyone knows where I can get a correct one, cheers OZ
P.S. Happy new year to all
one I have now before repaint

Hello OZ:
Last week I ordered a new GPZ style faring for my A-4. Came complete with mount hardware, windshield, and faring body in black Gel-Coat.
I haven't done any initial fitting yet, not sure if the windshield will clear the instrument pod.
The manufacture is Maier (Maier Manufacturing Inc.) located in Grass Valley California. Don't know if one can order direct, ordered mine through distribution. Their number is 530.272.9036 www.maier-mfg.com .
Paid $200.00 US for the entire kit. Seems to be high quality with a gasket between the windshield and faring body.
The first Kawasaki that had this faring from the factory was the 1981 GPZ1100.
Happy New Year!
Todd.

Yeh I remember the one I had on the other 13, it had a gasket between the windscreen and the body, also a piece of rubber around the lip that went around the headlight area, ok i'll keep searching, I enjoy these "quests" for parts, it's just the time it takes that is frustrating ... but with a 13 to find the right part is half the fun, cheers

10 years 3 months ago - 10 years 3 months agoYeh they fit, used the original brackets, they bolted on under the bolts for the top clamp for the forks, extended the length of the bolts from the fairing a tad and it all clamps on sweet, i'll add some photos of it, please excuse my "rat bike", it ain't as pretty as some on here, oh the fairing bottom sits against the horns a bit, but with a bit of fiddling it all sits tight against the headlight surround, Pete.Ager wrote: Could you let me know if it does fit as i could be interested in one of these thanks
This is a scan from a photo of one I had back in the early 80's, slight difference in angle of cut around blinker stems and the top of the windscreen had a kick out

Removed that new Maier faring out the box today and it all fits except the horn cover (Bezel) The bottom lip if the faring hits the outer sides of that cover. I'll have to remove that item and run with the horn's exposed, as depicted in your photo's.
