Taking display/instrument off the tank of the ZN 1300 was created by kjm190661
Folks, any ideas whats the nicest way to get ride of the instruments/display off the tank of a now naked ZN1300. Advice, warnings or other all welcome. My bike is pictured here and the cluster is just a piece of stuff now. would like to take it off and have tank welded/painted etc and was looking for ideas. Or is there another tank that fits reasonably easy. Thanks. Kenny from Northern Ireland.

Hi Kenny,
I'm building street fighter base on ZN1300 and fit the speedometer in this location
you can remove it and disconnect, it is only a display
not sure if KZ gas tank will fit, but if you want to stay with the side covers I will stay with the same gas tank.
if you going to paint it, you can cut the mounting bracket, fix and paint the damage

Thank you for this. Appreciate it. I am going to rebuild my naked ZN 1300 as a good looking black and gold brute with a single and double seat option. Can you post pics as you rebuild? I will do same. I am taking engine out (which is running sweet) and re-painting frame black, wheels (gold), and black engine and seat are black with stitching and logos embroidered in gold stitching. Cost is about £4K to do work. Don't want the ugly instrument stuff on the tank so will remove and figure out what to mount. not sure yet what to do about chrome wheel guards. most likely paint them black or maybe just remove them. What about you? B Rgds Kenny

Hi Kenny,
check the link below for my bike.
From 1984 Voyager to a street fighter
www.kz1300.com/index.php/forum/bike-proj...reet-fighter?start=0
I made lots of changes
CBR954 front end
made changes on the sub frame
all new wiring
waiting now on few more parts to come back from powder coating and new M-Switch Mini
looking back, I would have done few things different
end up buying some parts twice because I couldn't decide which one I like....
but it will be a good looking bike when I'm done
I will update soon with some more photos
It will be mostly black, I like the black and gold rimes, that's how I did my other bike

Hi Kenny,
This is what i did on my bike,
not 100% sure that I will keep it this way
I have another speedometer at home and may install it above the front light
