Crankshaft question
10 years 9 months ago
I'm thinking of buying a 1979 that needs a new crankshaft. Will any year crank fit or do I need one specifically out of a '79 engine?

Hi,
If your 1300 is a 1979 model it will be an A1.
The A1 & A2 have the same crank but the A3 & after have different cranks depending on the exact model & year.

Are you looking at getting that 79 kz1300 on ebay? I'm interested in seeing how much it'll fetch lol. It's the only one being sold as a whole bike on Ebay right now.
A shame to see such a low mile bike fall victim to motor knock .

Yes, any idea what it might be worth?

It's hard to nail down a concrete value for bikes like this. They're generally worth what someone is willing to pay for them which can fluctuate wildly when you add in factors like season, reason for buying (to collect or to use) and general availability which dwindles more and more.
I saw a very nice running, tastefully modded/upgraded, low mile living room example sell on Ebay a year or so ago for 10 grand. Then similar good bikes sell or not-sell for half that. Still other's internationally selling museum quality bikes for much more lol. There's threads in this forum and others discussing it so you can find the info if you dig hard enough.
I hope that whoever puts this one back together knows enough about the bikes to get it right . Otherwise I'm sure it'll be worth a lot in parts lol.
