Glad you figured it out and thanks for posting. Such a minor detail with expensive consequences when missed.Who would have thought a tight wire loom could do this?
I hope you pull that clip off and see if you can tighten up the crimp so more.
For the life of me, I can't understand why Kawasaki didn't bring the wire loom up through the top of the alternator cover and eliminate the possible oil leak scenario with the rubber grommet. Too many leak opportunities between the grommet and case, alternator cover and wires. Really dumb design.
