you can still get a genuine head gaskets with all the water way seals on it £98


i got mine to that stage then put the engine in the frame before putting the head on.
cut some tube to go over the studs to bolt the barrels down while being handled.

but the diameter of the fire rings is only 62mm and not 64mm. I think this means that the barrels will compress the fire rings 1mm from the edge and combustion will quickly start to burn past them.

I want to use the new gasket with the 64mm fire rings but make sure I seal the water jackets properly. I hear that this 3Bond 1211 is the best stuff to use.

Ahh yes, I remember that well & not too long ago either !!

Its great when you get to that stage, as its pretty much just bolting everything on after that !!

Good luck with the rest of the build & very interested to hear your thoughts & findings on the big bore kit as its something I have considered for a while now (maybe next winter project?).
