Turning over engine by hand
7 years 2 months ago
I made the Allan-head cap which threads into a brass insert that was pressed into the side-cover with some Locktite 282. Just large enough to take a 14mm socket. The window is a piece of 6 mil plexi inserted from the inside and flush to the outside. It has a lip on the inside and it was fixed in place with J.B.Weld.
No more nonsense of having to drain the oil or have the bike on the side-stand, just to rotate the crank by hand.

And now you're the only KZ1300 owner in the world who can check the ignition timing "on the fly" with a timing light. Sweet !!

Re; DEFACING the logo: I've already received notice from the legal department of KAWASAKI HEAVY INDUSTRIES regarding an "Examination of Discovery" hearing and pending penalties could be stiff !
I guess that's what kawboy's "Pat. Pending" comment was really referring to. The matter will probably be thrown-out cuz my name is not Pat !
With a Notarized statement of compliance I hereby certify that the picture is not "Photo-Shopped" and submit said photo for the "Purests". Hope this helps my "Case" !
In my defence: Having to remove the Stator cover any time there's a need to rotate the engine for various service and maintenance procedures seems even more criminal.
:woohoo:
