New mechanical water seal leaking?

Just fitted the new Kawasaki mechanical seal and put the rad on with water and it immediately poured out of the small drain hole which had previously been blocked. All looked ok to me when I put it together and I used white three bond liquid gasket on the mating surfaces. I took it apart and did it again..same result. I'm hoping there is a schoolboy error I've made (which I am prone to) but unsure what it could be. I'll walk away from it for the moment and get the coils and carbs back on. I hope as usual there will be suggestions to what is wrong or what I have done wrong, at least it all comes apart easily now!

Did you remember to put a new o-ring on the impeller shaft?

Good I'm glad that sorted it, I've done the job twice and both times successful.
Not always the case with other things I've done on the engine.
Cheers Pete.
