When I was a young lad - a long time ago- when you did a cylinder head you used a product called "red hermetite" to ensure a good seal. Is this still good practice, or am I behind the times?

I use the Kawasaki 3 bond on any head gasket I do. I will presume my Z13 has an original gasket as it has never been off in 237### km and is still probably OK so the OEM gaskets must be good.

I had leaks on mine (none original)and a friendly engine builder advised me and actually sorted my problem i was told composite gaskets need to grow into there job and no coolant is to be used for the break in period(just water ) then go to the coolant my leaks stopped in front of my eyes after he had totally flushed the engine and have never returned but must admit i am still trying to get her useable mainly as i am to busy but whenever i have run her there are no leaks just thought this maybe a tip cheers
