Stator fitment replacement a5 z1300 Help needed was created by aus_z1300
I need help with the stator test procedure i have downloaded a manual but that section is missing.
It does show continuity to ground which from what i could find means it is stuffed wich i would like to confirm.
When looking for a replacement i had trouble they mostly say they fit from 79-81 .
I looked up the parts schematic and a4-a5 stators appear to be a different part number as well.

To answer my own question if it shows continuity to ground it is stuffed.
So i thought why not have a look further into it the things buggered ayway.
See the pic where the 3 yellow wires come out there are basically 3 seperate enamelled wires wrapped around the posts.
They are all joined together at the other end.
As you can see in the pics i disconnected them and tested them individually and one of them is going to ground wich drags all 3 to ground when they are connected.
And if you look closer you can see the burn't looking coating that is the one that is on the circuit shorted to ground .

Mine must be an odd one i have tried everywhere .It measures 105mm outer 38mm center and 25mm thick across the center shares the same part number as the a4 one .
I have had a go at repairing mine . I cut and unwound the the shorted coil Then cleaned up the post a little with the die grinder coated it in a two part liquid metal. Then i bought some new enamelled wire from jaycar and rewound it joined it up again all tests are fine so i replaced the exposed old yellow wires that were brittle and hard with some new ones .
Then coated the whole thing in araldite . Going to fit it today and see what happens .
